It’s been freezing here lately (Sorry, I know I really shouldn’t complain, Buffalonians!), which has me dreaming about warm-weather destinations. These Key West stools are definitely tickling my fancy right now…

This is a great deal!

So many options! You really can’t go wrong.

There are a plethora of materials to bring into your home through decorating–various hard woods, upholstery fabric, leather, brass, chrome, lucite, lacquer, etc–and they all have the potential to be wonderful. But bamboo and rattan do something special for me. They’re relaxed and cheerful and unpretentious and so gosh darn friendly, aren’t they? Sure, they can go grandma pretty easily, but even then, they’re friendly, sweet grandma not stern, scary grandma. Here are some very friendly looking pieces that I’ve seen on CL lately:

Bamboo tables:
bamboo pedestal tables bamboo table
Asking: $220 (includes a glass top for the larger table)
Condition: “Excellent”
Dimensions: The larger table is 22″ wide, 25″ tall with a 30″ diameter glass top; the pedestal tables are supposedly 15″ by 15″ but either that’s a mistake or the picture is distorted, because they definitely don’t appear to be as wide as they are tall…
Location: Arlington, VA
Thoughts: I wish the pedestal tables were larger and would work as nightstands in my friend’s daughter’s room, because I think they’d be perfect with a little turquoise spray paint. They’re a good size to use next to an accent chair, though, to hold a coaster and a drink.

Bamboo bistro chairs:

Asking: $20 each (there are 8 available) Raised to $25 each (with 4 available) but I suspect there’s some negotiating room there
Condition: “Excellent, like new condition”
Dimensions: Not provided
Location: MD
Thoughts: These chairs feel both friendly and well-traveled to me–like they’d have spectacular stories about trips to Paris and African safaris. (I should probably stop personifying furniture so much…) See some inspiration photos on this post from a while back.
