Archives for posts with tag: bed

I will not be surprised if these are snatched up before I have a chance to hit publish. This is what CL is all about–cool finds for cheap, cheap, cheap.

Queen-size wicker bed frame:

Location: Fairfax, VA
Thoughts: Simple, “modern” way to bring in some texture to the bedroom.

MCM/Campaign sideboard:
MCM Campaign buffet sideboard
Asking: $65
Condition: ”Excellent condition” except for “some water damage to the back left corner on the top of the buffet.”
Dimensions: 40″ wide x 20″ deep
Location: Shepherd Park, NW DC
Thoughts: I wouldn’t know how to repair the water damage, but I bet you could easily hide it with a tray or something. I absolutely love this little guy.

P.S. “Have a hundred?” will be an irregular series of posts featuring pieces that you can purchase for $100 or less. Hopefully. That’s my intention anyway…

I don’t favor rooms that look like they’re straight out of a catalog, but I can certainly understand the appeal of these brand name pieces…

Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams upholstered queen bed frame:
Mitchell Gold and Bob Williams upholstered queen bed frame
Asking: $400 OBO
Condition: ”In great condition”
Dimensions: 80” L, 60″ W, 14″ H
Location: Chinatown, DC
Thoughts: Who wouldn’t like this?  This is a nice compromise of masculine and feminine with the softness of the upholstery, the simple/strong lines, toughness of nailhead trim and the neutral fabric.

Pottery Barn Victoria tufted ottoman:
Pottery Barn Victoria Tufted Ottoman
Asking: $450
Condition: ”Excellent MINT condition”
Dimensions: 51.5″ wide x 31″ deep x 17 ” high
Location: Gaithersburg, MD
Thoughts: A very pretty piece for a more formal living room. While I can’t imagine ever putting my feet up on it, it does look as if it would make a nice alternative coffee table (which is how PB was spinning it, I think, based off of one stock photo in the listing).

West Elm Kite Kilim pouf:
West Elm Kile Kilim Pouf
Asking: $150
Condition: ”Brand new”
Dimensions: 24″ L x 24″ W x 13″ H
Location: Silver Spring, MD
Thoughts: I like this as a middle-commitment way of adding pattern to a room. Not nearly as risky as upholstering a chair or couch, but not as timid as a throw pillow either. Win!

Restoration Hardware Collins Chaise Sectional:
Resoration Hardware Collins Upholstered Sectional
Asking: $2500
Condition: ”Very good condition”
Dimensions: 135″W x 70″D x 33″H
Location: Arnold, MD
Thoughts: Is it expensive? Absolutely. But it’s also a sectional, which warrants more than a typical sofa. And it’s gorgeous. I’d never want to replace it.

Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams vintage leather couch:
Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams vintage leather couch
Asking: $1450 Reduced to $1050 Reduced again to $699 (!!)
Condition: ”Distressed brown leather couch in excellent condition”
Dimensions: Not provided
Location: U Street/Logan Circle, DC
Thoughts: Finding a good leather sofa on CL that doesn’t look like La-Z-Boy vomit is basically the holy grail. 99% of the time when people say they can’t find what they’re looking for on CL, I think they’re probably not searching hard enough or using the right search terms or some other user error. Good looking leather sofas, however, are seriously impossible finds. They’re unicorns–mystical creatures that exist on the pages of Elle Decor and House Beautiful, but not in real life. If you’ve been looking for a unicorn, grab this handsome guy up immediately!

Were you as inspired by Jamie Meares‘s bed stylings for The Everygirl as I was? I especially liked the third look with the screen-as-headboard:

The Everygirl headboard alternative by Jamie Meares

If you want to recreate this look, you’re in luck, because an almost identical screen is currently available ($155… a year later this is still available but appears to have been reduced to $125. Make them an offer!):

woven screen

P.S. I just realized that the pillows in Ms. Meares’s design are done in one of the fabrics I listed yesterday. Hmmm, a sign, perhaps?

I love it when these fun wicker headboards pop up on CL:

Asking: $75 for the headboard, a bedframe (metal, presumably) and a mattress/boxspring Looks like someone (without vision) bought everything except the headboard. That’s now selling for $15.
Condition: No description of the headboard; the mattress is described as being in good condition
Dimensions: Queen size
Location: Alexandria, VA
Thoughts: I’d be hesitant to get a used mattress, but maybe they’d sell the headboard and frame for $40 or $50. The headboard (okay, the whole setup) looks a little grandma here, but imagine it spray painted white or a fun color.

For inspiration:

If you like the classic look of a red and white bedroom like this:

Or this:

You can recreate the B&B charm with this beautiful, brand new handmade Hawaiian king-size quilt ($495):

(There’s a similar queen-size version in green and white, if you prefer.)

And this French shabby chic king-size headboard–that needs a little TLC ($380 Update: No longer listed.):

And some white wicker furniture ($180 for the set Update: No longer listed.):

(Set includes one dresser, one chest for the foot of your bed and two coordinating nightstands.)

And maybe a couple of lamps with red shades ($35 for the pair):

As I said last week, I love a room with a pair of twin beds. Here’s another option for a sweeter look. If you enjoy these two rooms:

You should obviously snatch up this awesome pair of twin-sized wicker headboards ($150):

(If you need a couple cheap bedframes to go with, these are just $20 for the pair.)

Spray paint a fun-shaped lamp turquoise ($10 Update: This item is no longer listed.):

Throw in some inexpensive IKEA pieces ($100 Update: These items are no longer listed.):

Then, since you barely spent any money on the basics, you can splurge on fun pillows, luxurious bed linens and/or some incredible wallpaper. Just a thought…

Pair of Union Jack twin beds:

Asking: $600 for the pair (High, but possibly worth the splurge. You could try to get them for less, though, since the woman painted them herself and probably didn’t pay much for them originally.)
Condition: Just dandy!
Dimensions: Not provided, but they’re twin beds…
Location: Derwood, MD
Thoughts: I am more than a little obsessed with rooms featuring a pair of twin beds. (Evidence.) I’m also normal amounts obsessed with the Union Jack. (Evidence.) Combine the two and kinda going crazy over here.

Check ’em out.

Update: This item is no longer listed.

Pair of sconces:

Asking: $15 for two, or $20 for three (Sounds good to me.)
Condition: They look fine.
Dimensions: Not provided
Location: Manassas, VA
Thoughts: The classic style will go well with the bedframes. Rooms with twin beds obviously lend themselves to symmetry, and I think each guest should have his/her own reading lamp.

Check ’em out.

Nightstand:

Asking: $78 (I’d offer $50.)
Condition: Not sure. It’s solid cherry and looks fine in the pic, but the poster specifically says she’s selling it “as is.”
Dimensions: Not provided
Location: Alexandria/Kingstowne, VA
Thoughts: I prefer twin beds to share a nightstand in the middle. This is a classic style that would complement the bedframes. I’m not crazy about it, but the beds are the show-stoppers, so it’s okay for this piece to play second fiddle, far as I’m concerned.
