Hope everyone had a great long weekend! Mine was a pretty fantastic way to wrap up a fantastic summer. Didn’t leave much time for CLing though, so here’s another very random grouping:

Pair of Thayer-Coggin barrel chairs:
Pair of Thayer-Coggin Barrel Chairs
Thayer-Coggin Barrel Chairs detail
Asking: $450 (for the pair)
Condition: ”In excellent condition”
Dimensions: 27″ x 39″
Location: Potomac, MD
Thoughts: $225/piece for decent living room chairs is not bad, and Thayer-Cogin chairs can go for much more.  These aren’t OMG-amazing, but I think the pleating makes them special, and they’re in a good neutral gray, so they’d make good anchor pieces.

Modern wood dinette table:
modern wood dinette table
Asking: $30 [No longer available]
Condition: Not described
Dimensions: 48″ in diameter; 29″ high
Location: Falls Church, VA
Thoughts: I like the mix of the modern shape and the rustic wood grain. Not to mention the fact that it costs less than a J.Crew t-shirt.

Botanical-print valances:
calico corners botanical print valances
Asking: $275 (for 2)
Condition: Not described
Dimensions: The one pictured above is 87″ L by 18″ T;  the smaller one is 45″ L x 18″ T
Location: NW DC
Thoughts: Custom-made window treatments are expensive, but these pretties are still too high for CL, IMHO. They’re dependent on a buyer who happens to have two windows (and only two windows) in the same dimensions (and the same taste, of course). I do love that fabric though.

Teal and orange desk/vanity:

teal desk/vanity detail
Asking: $160
Condition: Not described
Dimensions: 42″ W x 17.5″ D x 28.5″ H
Location: Sterling, VA
Thoughts: They’re selling this as a desk, but I think I’d use it as a vanity, with a mirror mounted on the wall. It just looks like the perfect place to store jewelry and other fun trinkets.

There’s no rhyme nor reason with these. I just find them all intriguing:

White atomic desk:

Condition: ”Some light wear to the finish (e.g, chips, dings, etc.)”
Dimensions: 45″l, 20″w, 29″h
Location: Catonsville, MD
Thoughts: It looks a little dingy now, but with a little elbow grease, this could be something really special.

Restoration Hardware Flatiron dining table:

Asking: $680 OBO Reduced to $650 OBO
Condition: ”Only bought a few months ago. BEAUTIFUL.”
Dimensions: 72″L x 36″W x 30″H
Location: Mt. Rainier, MD
Thoughts: It’s pricy, but if you were to buy it new, it would be $795 not including tax or delivery (and they offer to deliver within 10 miles). Also, these people are seriously stylish and have a number of other cool items for sale all on this same post, so click through to check those out.

Faux bamboo sideboard:

Condition: ”Very very good condition”
Dimensions: 70″W x 32″H x 20″D
Location: Herndon, VA
Thoughts: This is my favorite piece in the set–and I think it would work well on its own–but the full set is worth checking out too. Set includes 6 chairs, a dining table and a hutch to top the sideboard. Seller emphasizes that priority and discount would be given to anyone who wants to buy the whole set…

Antique French two-seater sofa:
antique French two-seater sofa/loveseat
Asking: $900 OBO
Condition: ”No imperfections.”
Dimensions: Not provided, but they call it a two-seater, so it’s petite
Location: DC
Thoughts: I adore this little sofa.  Please buy it and invite me over so I can fawn all over it. (It’s been reupholstered in deep green velvet, btw.)

I’m attempting to hunt down the perfect desk for one of my guy friends, and I’ve had to pass on a number of great options because they weren’t quite right for him, but might just be right for you.

Desk #1:
mcm desk
Asking: $50
Condition: “The desk in is great shape for its age except for a gash in one of the drawer fronts.”
Dimensions: 47″ wide, 27″ deep, 29″ high
Location: Falls Church, VA
Thoughts: Bummer about the imperfection on the door, but I still think this is worth $50 easily.

Check it out. No longer available.

Desk #2:
writing desk
Asking: $75
Condition: Not described
Dimensions: It says 2.6″ tall, 3.11″ wide, which I’m guessing means 30″ tall and 47″ wide?
Location: Kensington, MD
Thoughts: Not a great picture, but I think this writing desk has potential.

Check it out. No longer available.

Desk #3:
white Pottery Barn desk and chair
Asking: $490 (includes the chair as well)
Condition: Not described
Dimensions: Not provided (but according to the PB site, the desktop is 70” wide x 23” deep and the side components are 21” wide x 17” deep x 28.5” high)
Location: Fairfax, VA
Thoughts: Newish Pottery Barn stuff is always popular on CL.

Check it out. No longer available.

Desk #4:
curved wallnut desk
Asking: $500 (But they add “Do not be shy, make an offer: we want to give it to a new owner who will take care of it!”)
Condition: Excellent
Dimensions: Not provided
Location: Adams Morgan, DC
Thoughts: This wouldn’t even be a little bit practical for my friend, but oh my goodness it’s a lovely piece of furniture.

Check it out. No longer available.

Which desk would you choose?

Maybe I should have saved this for next Wednesday, but you never know how long things will last on CL…

Want a really happy home office? This elephant desk will surely make you smile:
elephant desk
Asking: $800 OBO “Best offer accepted”
Condition: Some wear and tear, and a tiny nick on the top
Dimensions: Not provided
Location: Rockville, MD
Thoughts: This is probably a little over the top for me, but I’m pretty sure I’d want to be friends with someone who had it in his/her house. I can’t help but be drawn to pieces and people that don’t take themselves too seriously!

I often cross reference Pinterest when I find intriguing pieces, as it’s a quick and easy way to gauge popularity/trendiness, and low and behold, today I discovered that there’s quite a market for kidney-shaped elephant head desks. And they look great in just about any color you can imagine:

elephant desk red

elephant desk peach

elephant desk black
Plus navy, turquoise and white… Some of them had already sold, but of those that were still available, price tags were between $3500-$4000.

This combo would make me a happy girl:

Vintage desk:
vintage black desk
Asking: $190 [No longer available]
Condition: Not described
Dimensions: 44″ wide, 31″ high, 18″ deep
Location: Manassas/Centerville/Chantilly, VA
Thoughts: It’s lovely, and not unlike the one I’ve been obsessing over in Jenny’s reent moodboard.

Vintage barrel back chair:
vintage cane barrel back chair
Asking: $280  [No longer available]
Condition: Not described, but it clearly needs some touching up.
Dimensions: Not provided
Location: Somewhere in DC
Thoughts: I’m not totally sure this chair would fit in the desk’s opening, but ‘twould be lovely if it did.

I currently work from home, so I need to get a desk for my new place ASAP. (Technically I’m still working from my parents’ house, but the desk here stays.) I haven’t found anything that works for me/my space yet, but I’ve found some decent options that might work for others:

Executive, Campaign-style desk:

Asking: $200 [No longer available]
Condition: Has some wear and tear, but overall still a good looking piece of furniture.
Dimensions: 72″ long, 36″ deep, 30″ tall
Location: Fairfax, VA
Thoughts: Really good price, and based on the pictures, I think they’re being too hard on themselves regarding the condition. It looks like a beautiful piece to me. Sadly, it’s too big for my space.

Check it out.

Vintage Henry Link desk and chair:

Asking: $300 (but there are some extra coordinating pieces if you click through) [No longer available]
Condition: Solid wood. Well taken care of.
Dimensions: Not provided
Location: Berwyn Heights, MD
Thoughts: If I had a school-aged child, I might grab this, even though I think it’s a bit over-priced. It’s super cute, but student-sized, so it won’t work for me.

1960’s Danish desk-in-a-box:
Asking: $1200 (there are actually two available; get both for $2000) [No longer available]
Condition: Great condition.
Dimensions: 45″ high, 32″ wide, 21″ deep (presumably when it’s packed up)
Location: Glover Park, DC
Thoughts: I’m not about to spend over $1000 on a desk, and this isn’t exactly my style anyway. BUT I can totally appreciate the beauty of the design. It’s really cool piece.

Which would you choose?

*The CL pics are all linked to their postings.

Brass & teak serving cart:

Asking: $60 (reasonable) [No longer available]
Condition: Pretty good; faint ring on one tray
Location: Arlington, VA
Thoughts: Would make a stylish bar cart, despite its lack of wheels. Could also be a bedside table or side table, obv.

Check it out.

Pair of faux bamboo nightstands:

Asking: $350 each (way high) [No longer available]
Condition: Adorable, from what I can tell
Location: Potomac, MD
Thoughts: Great punch of color. Bamboo detailing is totally charming.

Campaign-style desk & chair:

Asking: $75 (deal) [No longer available]
Condition: Desk is in “like-new” condition; chair seat is sagging
Location: Chantilly, VA
Thoughts: I don’t love the blonde wood, personally, but they claim the desk is solid wood (not wicker), so I’m thinking you could refinish it. The detail has potential and campaign-style furniture is hot right now. I’m totally ambivalent about the chair.
