It’s been freezing here lately (Sorry, I know I really shouldn’t complain, Buffalonians!), which has me dreaming about warm-weather destinations. These Key West stools are definitely tickling my fancy right now…

Set of three rattan bar stools:

Condition: “Like new.”
Dimensions: 42″ high x 21″ wide x 21″ deep; seat = 31″ high
Location: Gainsville, VA
Thoughts: I love these the way they are, but they would look nice with a glossy paint job too, if that’s your preference.

Antique umbrella holder:
antique yellow umbrella holder
Asking: $15
Condition: “Fair.”

Vintage high back chairs:
vintage high back chairs
Asking: 1 for $450 or 2 for $800 OBO
Condition: “Great… overall integrity of the chair is solid (not wobbly) and the seat cushions are in great shape.” However, I think the upholstery looks a little worn in a few places in the photos.
Dimensions: 5’9″ tall
Location: Leesburg Pike at Chain Bridge Road
Thoughts: Kind of ridiculous; kind of awesome. I’m not totally sure how I feel about these. I wonder if you could elevate the look like Lauren Liess did with her playfully sophisticated Mad Hatter chairs in the DC Design House a few years back. What do you think?

Leather arm chair with nailhead trim:

Asking: $400
Condition: “Soft leather in good condition. No tears or wearing.”
Dimensions: 33″ x 37″ x 38″
Location: NW Washington DC
Thoughts: Seller says it’s Ethan Allen, which I can’t verify since they don’t have this chair shown online, but at the price point (which seller stresses is negotiable), it’s worth checking out either way. I like the legs and the color of the leather–and if it really is soft, I’d probably be sold.

Blue and white is such a classic combination–and so versatile. It can be traditional, country, preppy, modern, pretty much anything you like. Here are a handful of blue and white items that show the color combo’s range:

Condition: “Like new”
Dimensions: 5-6″
Location: Fair Oaks, VA
Thoughts: Am I the only one who’s been bought to baskets/vessels that look ridiculous once you get them home and display them empty? This would be a quick (and attractive) way to remedy that. Way better than the bag of potpourri balls you were considering.

Pair of Barbara Cosgrove lampshades:
Barbara Cosgrove gray lampshades pair
Asking: $120
Condition: New
Dimensions: 13″ diameter, 8.5″ high
Location: Alexandria, VA
Thoughts: If you’ve never shopped for lampshades before, you probably think I’m crazy, but if you have, you know that attractive/well-made ones are surprisingly expensive, so two for $120 doesn’t sound unreasonable to me (though I’d probably try to negotiate down a bit anyway).

I’ve recently been feeling the pull back to Craigslist and to this blog. History would suggest that the pull won’t last, but let’s look at some unique finds and good deals while it’s in effect, shall we?

Pair of green barrel chairs:
Vintage hollywood regency barrel with green upholstery
Asking: $500 for the pair [though there are multiple postings with prices up to $650]
Condition: ”Some scrapes”
Dimensions: Not provided
Location: Not provided
Thoughts: The dearth of information in this listing is probably a bad sign, but I’m so drawn to the color and shape of these that I still had to share.

Another green chair:
Green Wool Button-Tufted Side Chair
Asking: $200 OBO
Condition: ”Excellent condition. Solid construction, real wood legs. Recently reupholstered.”
Dimensions: 30″ tall x 23″ wide x 24″ deep. Seat height 14.5″
Location: Takoma, DC
Thoughts: Not sure why my first to finds are green chairs, but this one is pretty fantastic too–and totally different with it’s MCM design. Love the upholstery and the brass detail on the top.

MCM Recliner:
MCM Recliner
MCM Reliner lounge chair
Asking: $450
Condition: ”The naugahyde is in very good vintage condition with minimal wear marks. It was built very well and is incredibly sturdy; it reclines like the day it was made.”
Dimensions: 37″ wide x 34″ deep x 42″ tall with a seat width of 22.5″ and a seat depth of 20″
Location: Alexandria, VA
Thoughts: If the naugahyde doesn’t feel too cheap/plasticky, someone should jump on this. The color is great, and the shape is super fun, if you’re into MCM design. I also like that you don’t see this design all over the place (like the lovely but ubiquitous Eames lounger).

Set of 4 Virtue of California chairs:
virtue of california chairs
Asking: $300 OBO
Condition: “Gold patina with a bit of wear due to the years… otherwise the chairs are in excellent condition.”
Dimensions: Height of seat–18″; height of arms–24″; height of back–32″
Location: Leesburg, VA
Thoughts:
I’m assuming the seats are vinyl, not leather, which might look cheap/unsexy in person, but if it looks like leather (or is leather), these would be so hot. And even if it’s not, I’d totally consider reupholstering them.

Peacock chair and matching side table:
peacock chair and matching side table
Asking: $125
Condition: Not described
Dimensions: Chair is 56″ H; table is 21″ H, 18″ in diameter
Location: Fairfax, VA
Thoughts: These gems from the ’70s seem to be everywhere on the internet (seriously, there are entire Pinterest boards devoted to them!), probably because of their funky, sculptural design. I’ve never sat in one, so I can’t speak to their comfort, but they’d be very fun addition to a sunroom, porch or even a bedroom. And if nothing else, they’re the thing for a bohemian-inspired photo shoot.
