So many options! You really can’t go wrong.

Sorry I disappeared again.  I was deeply saddened by the shooting at the Navy Yard, where I work, and I lost interest in Craigslist for a while. Then I was distracted by late nights working on an exciting project, which I hope to reveal in the near future.  Between those very bad and very good things, these past two weeks have flown by with nary a look at the List of Craig. But now I finally have the time and the brain space to do some sleuthing…

Drexel dresser:
drexel dresser
Asking: $65
Condition: ”In very good condition”
Dimensions: 36″ W x 18″ D x 47″ H
Location: Herndon, VA
Thoughts: The ivory color reads a little sad/dirty in these photos, but the hardware, the lines and the price (super low for a Drexel piece, even on CL) make this one worth a bit of elbow grease.

Arrow side table:
arrow side table
Asking: $200
Condition: It’s vintage, but it looks like it’s in perfect condition from the pics.
Dimensions: Not provided
Location: Ashburn, VA
Thoughts: It’s a little high for side tables by CL standards, but the design is unique and arrows are trending. (And they’re a trend I actually like!)

Pair of plaid chairs with/without sofa:
pair of plaid chairs
neutral sofa
Asking: $350 for the pair of chairs or $550 for the chairs and the sofa
Condition: “Pristine condition”
Dimensions: Chairs are 29″ W x 31″ D x 30″ H; sofa is 85″ W x 32″ D x 26″ H
Location: Chevy Chase, MD
Thoughts: I like the style and size of the chairs, and although I’m not super excited about the upholstery, it’s certainly not offensive and could be a good option for injecting some masculinity into a space. The sofa is also completely unoffensive, but please don’t style it with the pillows from the chair if you get all three. ;)

Hollywood Regency china cabinet:

Asking: $650 OBO
Condition: “Pristine condition”
Dimensions: 82″ H x 60″ W x 20″ D
Location: McLean, VA
Thoughts: Another big ticket item for CL, but it’s a substantial piece and it’s beau-ti-ful.

I love summertime, but it sure is busy! Last week I went on vacation to my favorite U.S. city–Newport, RI–and this week I’ve been playing catch up at work. Thus, I haven’t had much of chance to peruse my favorite used-furniture website. Sad, I know.

With only a few minutes of poking around, here are a few good finds to hold me/us over until I can really get my search on:

Pair of yellow lamps:

Asking: $79 for the pair [No longer available]
Condition: Not described
Dimensions: Not provided
Location: Leesburg, VA
Thoughts: Cool shape in a great, happy color–what’s not to love? (P.S. This person is gonna move any second, but if you want to take the trek to Leesburg today, search “Hollywood Regency Moving Sale” for a complete list of what she’s selling.)

Blue linen Chesterfield sofa:

Asking: $895 [No longer available]
Condition: Pristine
Dimensions: 90″ long
Location: Silver Spring, MD
Thoughts: This color feels a tiny bit trendy to me, but Chesterfields are classic as is linen upholstery, so I think someone needs to go for it. Also, it’s apparently a Mitchell Gold piece, which means that it’s good quality and that the price is more than fair.

Antique French Gray dresser:

Asking: $280 [No longer available]
Condition: Distressed finish, but well made
Dimensions: 44″ wide, 20″ deep, 35.5″ tall
Location: NW DC
Thoughts: Charming and functional–win! (Loving the pictured mirror as much or more though…)

If you like the classic look of a red and white bedroom like this:

Or this:

You can recreate the B&B charm with this beautiful, brand new handmade Hawaiian king-size quilt ($495):

(There’s a similar queen-size version in green and white, if you prefer.)

And this French shabby chic king-size headboard–that needs a little TLC ($380 Update: No longer listed.):

And some white wicker furniture ($180 for the set Update: No longer listed.):

(Set includes one dresser, one chest for the foot of your bed and two coordinating nightstands.)

And maybe a couple of lamps with red shades ($35 for the pair):

As I said last week, I love a room with a pair of twin beds. Here’s another option for a sweeter look. If you enjoy these two rooms:

You should obviously snatch up this awesome pair of twin-sized wicker headboards ($150):

(If you need a couple cheap bedframes to go with, these are just $20 for the pair.)

Spray paint a fun-shaped lamp turquoise ($10 Update: This item is no longer listed.):

Throw in some inexpensive IKEA pieces ($100 Update: These items are no longer listed.):

Then, since you barely spent any money on the basics, you can splurge on fun pillows, luxurious bed linens and/or some incredible wallpaper. Just a thought…

Red leather sofa:

Asking: $450 (OK, maybe a little high.) [No longer available]
Condition: “Looks like new.”
Dimensions: Not provided
Location: Falls Church, VA
Thoughts: I am not a red leather girl, but this isn’t the worst.

Orange chairs and ottoman:

Asking: $65 (Good.) [No longer available]
Condition: “No rips, no tears, no spots.”
Dimensions: 30″ tall, 30″ wide, 30″ deep for the chairs; 22″ long by 15″ wide, 12″ tall for the ottoman
Location: Centerville, VA
Thoughts: The faux leather looks alarmingly shiny, but Pantone’s color of the year for 2012 is Tangerine Tango, and this looks like a pretty close match.

Yellow accent table:

Asking: $225 FIRM (Boo.) [No longer available]
Condition: Good
Dimensions: 42″ wide, 22″ deep, 32″ high
Location: Alexandria, VA
Thoughts: Too bad this is such a pricy little table, because it sure is adorbs.

Green side chairs:

Asking: $150 (Hard to tell as the poster doesn’t ever say how many chairs are in the “set.” Two? Three? Also doesn’t know if they’re leather or vinyl…) [No longer available]
Condition: “Extremely good condition”
Dimensions: Not provided
Location: Ledroit Park/Logan DC
Thoughts: I think a couple of these could look cool in a library. So if you’re the kind of person that has a library in your house, have at them.

Blue dresser:

Asking: $200 FIRM (Doesn’t seem special enough for that to me.) [No longer available]
Condition: Solid construction, purposefully distressed for a vintage look.
Dimensions: 17″ deep, 32″ wide, 45″ tall
Location: NW DC (same seller as yesterday’s black dresser)
Thoughts: Blue was surprisingly hard. There wasn’t much in a true blue that didn’t look dated. This isn’t my favorite find. It reminds me of the blue Hemnes dressers at IKEA though.

Purple velvet arm chairs

Asking: $600 for the pair (They paid $860 a piece two years ago, so that seems fair.) [No longer available]
Condition: Looks good.
Dimensions: 31″ high, 29 1/2″ wide, 30″ deep
Location: Silver Spring, MD
Thoughts: Fun! Purple has been growing on me lately… You could do something like this in a palate more like this.Yes?

Black dresser:

Asking: $260 (Reasonable. Tons of people try to sell really ugly dressers for more than that.) [No longer available]
Condition: Well-crafted with dovetail joints and good metal sliders.
Dimensions: 60.25″ wide, 20″ deep, 33.25″ tall
Location: NW DC
Thoughts: Eff, I want this. Look at those lionhead pulls!

Pair of yellow chairs:

Asking: $700 (A little high.) [No longer available]
Condition: Good.
Dimensions: 35″ high, 25″ wide, 36″ deep
Location: Oakton, VA
Thoughts: Finding a nice pair of matching chairs isn’t easy. These are in a lovely color and a have nice lines. You could use these as the starting point for doing your own version of this room.

Sofa with English rolled arms:

Asking: $25 (Duh.) [No longer available]
Condition: Seam coming apart in one place, presumably where pillow is placed in first picture. Otherwise good.
Dimensions: 79″ wide, 38″ deep, 62″ high
Location: Chantilly, VA
Thoughts: Obviously the seam is an issue, but for $25 this is a classic piece that 100% worth repairing/reupholstering. I love this style of arms. (Coincidentally, the sofa featured in the link above has these arms… And it’s very similar to this expensive RH alternative.) However, I’m not sure about the current fabric, which they describe as “traditional jacoben damask in chocolate and aqua.” The sofa in the pic looks delightfully neutral, so obviously I’d want to see this in person before getting my heart set on it.

Red children’s dresser/armoire:

Asking: $85 (They don’t give the dimensions so I’m not really sure how big it is… Maybe offer $75?) [No longer available]
Condition: The overall look is intentionally perfectly imperfect, so I don’t mind the bits of scruffiness. It looks like there’s something weird going on in the armoire part, though. I’d want to look into that.
Location: Chevy Chase, MD
Thoughts: I love the pop of colors for a kid’s room. And after the babies themselves, aren’t their clothes the cutest part? Their itty bitty duds could be displayed for all to see in the mini armoire.

Check it out.

White leather rocker and ottoman:

Asking: $750 (High, BUT apparently the chair alone would be about $1100 including shipping, so not as high as you might think. Definitely offer less though.) [No longer available]
Condition: “Pristine”
Location: NW DC
Thoughts: I looked at A LOT of rocking chairs and gliders and this was the only one that struck me as stylish. Not that your nursery rocker has to be stylish.

Italian cradle:

Asking: $150 (Quite reasonable considering it retails for $930.) [No longer available]
Condition: Has some minor scratches and requires some screw replacement.
Location: Falls Church, VA
Thoughts: I’m scared to even suggest this because it’s probably a death trap. Everything’s a death trap when baby’s sleep: No blankets! No bumpers! No stuffed animals! No drop-side cribs! Etc., etc., etc. So chances are high that this isn’t safe. But dang is it pretty.

Bonus: Lot of 18 Baby Einstein DVDs:

Asking: $30 (Good. That’s $1.66 per DVD and baby stuff is notoriously overpriced. I think these retail for like $10-14 a pop.) [No longer available]
Condition: “Good”
Location: Falls Church, VA
Thoughts: Even though I’m pretty positive that these videos don’t turn babies into geniuses, I’d still feel a little better about popping one of these in than I would about sticking a baby in front of the boob tube. But maybe that’s silly.

Pair of MCM chairs:

Asking: $400 (OK, offer a bit less) [No longer available]
Condition: Chrome loss on one arm of each chair; original upholstery in good condition
Location: Frederick, MD
Thoughts: Seller speculates that they might be Milo Braughman for Thayer Coggin, which sell for bushels more on 1stdibs. But they’re unmarked, and I’m certainly no expert. The chrome loss would bug me, but if you can look past that, they’re not bad at all.

Walnut dresser:

Asking: $500 (a bit high, I think; lowball) [No longer available]
Condition: A little chipping
Location: Columbia Heights, MD
Thoughts: I wouldn’t pay $500, but it’s got good lines.

Check it out.

Danish Modern wall unit:

Asking: $600 (probably fair, but I’d try to get it for a little less) [No longer available]
Condition: Good
Location: Annandale, VA
Thoughts: I feel like this is something Emily Henderson would use and style the crap out of. Yes, I think that’s correct.
