Blue and white is such a classic combination–and so versatile. It can be traditional, country, preppy, modern, pretty much anything you like. Here are a handful of blue and white items that show the color combo’s range:

Tell me–what’s your favorite color combo?

This Sunday morning I’m lusting over a piece that neither fits my decor nor my budget, but it sure is pretty…

Kilim Rug Coffee Table / Ottoman:
Kilim Rug Coffee Table Ottoman
Asking: $1500
Condition: “Perfect”

Thoughts: This is stunning and–I imagine–truly one of a kind. The seller has actually listed the whole room (below) for $5000, so there might be some room for negotiation on the ottoman.

Condition: Like new

Yellow Moroccan pouf:

Pair of Barbara Cosgrove lampshades:
Barbara Cosgrove gray lampshades pair
Asking: $120
Condition: New
Dimensions: 13″ diameter, 8.5″ high
Location: Alexandria, VA
Thoughts: If you’ve never shopped for lampshades before, you probably think I’m crazy, but if you have, you know that attractive/well-made ones are surprisingly expensive, so two for $120 doesn’t sound unreasonable to me (though I’d probably try to negotiate down a bit anyway).

Cast stone face pots:
Cast Stone Face pots
Asking: $40 each, $70 a pair
Condition: Not described (but they’re not supposed to be perfect)
Dimensions: Not provided
Location: Calvert County, MD
Thoughts: The seller makes these in five different finishes, but the plain concrete one is definitely the best. The rest feel a little over-the-top/cheesy to me. Note that there are four or five faces on each pot (hard to tell by the pictures), so they’re a little kooky, but I like a little kookiness!

Thoughts: This isn’t the deal of the century, but it’s a very fair price for a well-framed, decently sized vintage botanical print in good condition. And they’re so cheerful!

I will not be surprised if these are snatched up before I have a chance to hit publish. This is what CL is all about–cool finds for cheap, cheap, cheap.

P.S. “Have a hundred?” will be an irregular series of posts featuring pieces that you can purchase for $100 or less. Hopefully. That’s my intention anyway…

I’ve recently been feeling the pull back to Craigslist and to this blog. History would suggest that the pull won’t last, but let’s look at some unique finds and good deals while it’s in effect, shall we?

Pair of green barrel chairs:
Vintage hollywood regency barrel with green upholstery
Asking: $500 for the pair [though there are multiple postings with prices up to $650]
Condition: ”Some scrapes”
Dimensions: Not provided
Location: Not provided
Thoughts: The dearth of information in this listing is probably a bad sign, but I’m so drawn to the color and shape of these that I still had to share.

Another green chair:
Green Wool Button-Tufted Side Chair
Asking: $200 OBO
Condition: ”Excellent condition. Solid construction, real wood legs. Recently reupholstered.”
Dimensions: 30″ tall x 23″ wide x 24″ deep. Seat height 14.5″
Location: Takoma, DC
Thoughts: Not sure why my first to finds are green chairs, but this one is pretty fantastic too–and totally different with it’s MCM design. Love the upholstery and the brass detail on the top.

MCM Recliner:
MCM Recliner
MCM Reliner lounge chair
Asking: $450
Condition: ”The naugahyde is in very good vintage condition with minimal wear marks. It was built very well and is incredibly sturdy; it reclines like the day it was made.”
Dimensions: 37″ wide x 34″ deep x 42″ tall with a seat width of 22.5″ and a seat depth of 20″
Location: Alexandria, VA
Thoughts: If the naugahyde doesn’t feel too cheap/plasticky, someone should jump on this. The color is great, and the shape is super fun, if you’re into MCM design. I also like that you don’t see this design all over the place (like the lovely but ubiquitous Eames lounger).

Ikat (pronounced “ee-cot”): a fabric in which the yarns have been tie-dyed before weaving; (now it’s often used to describe the resulting pattern, even if the traditional dying method isn’t used)

Ikat is a trends with staying power. At least, I like to think it is, since it’s a trend I actually like. If you’re not familiar with this word, you’re likely quite familiar with the kinds of patterns the technique produces. I love that it looks fancy in a cool/global way but not overly designed. What do you think?

Ikat stool:
ikat ottoman
Asking: $270
Condition: “In perfect condition”
Dimensions: 27″ W; 22″ D; 19″ H
Location: Gaithersburg, MD
Thoughts: Waaaaay to expensive for CL, but it’s pretty, isn’t it?

Ikat rug:
pink ombre ikat rug
Asking: $125
Condition: “Perfect condition”
Dimensions: 5′ x 8′
Location: Arlington (Courthouse), VA
Thoughts: Ombre and ikat–can you handle than much trendiness? Personally, I’d love this in a modern nursery.

Ikat loveseat:
ikat loveseat
Asking: $490
Condition: “The cushions are all down filled and extremely comfortable.”
Dimensions: It measures 54′ wide x 39″ high at top of arch x 33″ deep. The seat depth is a roomy 22.5″
Location: Chevy Chase, MD
Thoughts: Most people are afraid of patterned sofas/loveseats, but if the rest of your furniture was fairly neutral, this could be a great statement piece. And while the price might seem high for a (CL) loveseat, keep in mind that its a designer piece that’s beautifully upholstered. Look how perfectly the pattern on the front of the seat cushions lines up with the skirt–that’s the kind of detail that sets apart a mediocre piece from a really nice one.

Two pairs of Ikat drapes:
Padna Ikat drapes
Asking: $495 (includes 4 panels, 2 curtain rods and the rings to hang them)
Condition: “Custom-made, lined and pinch-pleated”
Dimensions: 84″ L
Location: Arlington (Clarendon), VA
Thoughts: I usually make my own curtains, but since I can’t sew, I’m limited to what can be created with an iron and hem tape… Needless to say, mine aren’t fancy enough to be lined or pinch-pleated, so these look impressive to me.  Gorgeous drapes can make a space feel so much more luxurious (see here, here, here or here for examples), so these might be worth a splurge if you’re into the muted palette and the ikat-look.

Ikat shell chair:
ikat shell chair

Condition: “Brand new. Teal color is darker that photo shows.”
Dimensions: Not provided
Location: Falls Church, VA
Thoughts: This would be a great statement piece for a home office. If nothing else, it would make you feel a little better when you’re paying your bills.
